Your Website Unlocked is a one-person business run by Matt Vanderzalm in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. I only collect what I need to talk with you, send you what you asked for, and keep the site running. Privacy is important to me, and I do my best to use tools that respect yours. Most importantly, I don’t sell your information, and I don’t run ad-tracking. Here are the details....

What I collect, and why

When you subscribe to the newsletter

The signup form collects your email address and sends it to Buttondown, the service I use to send the newsletter. You get a confirmation email first (double opt-in), so you’re only added if you click to confirm. Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can leave anytime.

When you book an intro call

The scheduler on the intro-call page is Cal.com. To book, it collects your name, email address, business name, and the time you pick (plus anything you add in the notes) so we can both get the calendar invite and I can prepare for our conversation.

When you use the written intro form

The form on the write-me page is DeftForm. It collects your name, email address, business name, the boxes you check, and whatever you choose to tell me, so I can understand where you’re stuck and reply personally.

Analytics

I use Fathom Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. Both are privacy-first: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no personal profiles. I see aggregate trends (page views, referrers, rough location by country), never who you individually are.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes basic request data such as your IP address to serve pages and protect the site from abuse.

When you email me

If you write to me directly, I keep the email so I can reply and stay in touch about your project. My email runs on Fastmail, which is private: no data mining and no sharing with third parties.

Cookies

The site itself doesn’t set tracking cookies, and the analytics tools above are cookie-free. The embedded tools — the Cal.com scheduler and the DeftForm form — may set their own cookies while you use them, which is covered by their privacy policies below.

The tools I use

Each of these has its own privacy policy governing the data it handles:

How I use your information

Only in the ways you’d expect: to reply to you, to run our project together, and to send the newsletter if you asked for it. I don’t sell or rent your information, and I don’t share it except with the tools above that make those things work.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any issue. And you can ask me what information I hold about you, or ask me to delete it — just email [email protected] and I’ll take care of it.

Keeping your information

I keep what I need for as long as we’re working together or in touch, and remove it when it’s no longer needed. The tools above retain data under their own policies.

Children

This site is for business owners and isn’t directed at children. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle your information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
